Our Commitment to You!

We’ve gone to the Dogs!
Our first and most important commitment is to the dogs that we jog with. We take the health and well being of every dog extremely seriously. Jogging can be strenuous and difficult for humans and dogs alike. We go to great lengths (literally) to make sure your dog is healthy, free from injury, and really, really happy.

Trust:
Our clients trust us with their prized possession, best friend, and always loyal-companion. We understand the incredible responsibility that we have in keeping your dogs safe and happy, and we know that this relationship is built on trust.

Integrity:
We will always recommend jogging plans that are right for your dog. The interest of Jogs For Dogs is not in profit, or economy, our interest is in your dog’s health. Not all dogs can run five days per week. We will never recommend a plan that is counter- productive to your dog’s health.

Service:
Our goal is to give our clients (dog and human) the best service possible! We love feedback—positive and negative. We are always looking to improve on the services we offer and the manner in which we deliver them. Please never hesitate to call, write, or email us for any reason whatsoever. Personalized Service is Paramount!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why Jog?  Why not just Walk?
Most dogs require at least 45 minutes per day of aerobic exercise.  Dogs are not all that different than humans when it comes to exercise, some need a lot to stay healthy, and some need less.   But, regardless of size, breed, and age, all dogs need sufficient exercise that most dogs cannot get from simply a walk.   Walks are great for socializing and certainly any exercise is better than no exercise.   However, at Jogs For Dogs we have a small focus: getting your dog fit for a healthy and happy life.

Why should I chose Jogs For Dogs over other pet services?
Jogs For Dogs is not the least expensive service you can find.  However, we are the first and only dog jogging service in Seattle.   The services we provide are based on our 4 principles (see “Our Commitment To You”).  We take our work very seriously and we are professionals to the core.   Jogs For Dogs is not simply a dog walking, or pet sitting service, we are a business.   We go the extra mile (literally, sometimes two or three) to give you and your dog the most professional, personalized, high quality service possible.

Will my dog be jogging with other dogs?
Yes and No.  Jogs For Dogs is a very specialized service that is tailored to each and every dog, based on fitness, ability, age, etc.    We never have more than a 2 dog to 1 Jogger ratio.   Most likely your dog will be one on one with our fine athletes.   If we ever “partner-up” it will be because: two clients live near each other, the dogs are in very similar conditioning and require the same jogging plan, and the temperaments of both dogs are 100% compatible.   We actually try to pair dogs up when we can because it provides a good social outlet for the dogs and gives each of them incentive to push on.   We will ALWAYS notify you if your dog is going to be jogging with another dog.   On occasion routes overlap and our athletes might meet up and run together. This is another positive experience for dogs and athletes alike, and we try to take advantage of it when we can.

Do I have to be at home for you to pick up my dog?
Absolutely not!  Lots of Dogs are cooped up inside all day long, or stuck in a backyard, while their owners are away at work (or on vacation).   Trying to solve this problem was one of the major reasons Jogs For Dogs was founded.   Part of our largest client base is busy professionals who are away from home all day but love their dogs and want to see them healthy and happy.   During our free in-home consultation we discuss many things, including how to get your pooch out for a jog if/when you are not at home.   Usually we use a hide a key, or spare key to get inside, or we may simply open a backyard gate.

How do I know my dog will be safe?
Safety is at the top of our list when it comes to both your dog and our athletes.   We never run across busy streets, listen to ipods, run in dangerous areas where off-leash dogs might be, jaywalk, or put your dog in any unnecessary situation that could endanger their health.   However, accidents can happen and some situations are out of our control.  When you sign up with Jogs For Dogs you are required to sign a release stating that Jogs For Dogs can take your dog to a veterinarian in the event of an emergency and seek full medical attention.   All of our athletes carry a cell phone with them at all times while jogging in case of any emergency where they would need to contact you, or anyone else.

What age should my dog start Jogs For Dogs?
An active healthy life of fitness should be part of your dogs life from the get go.   Puppies shouldn’t be involved in any high intensity exercise until at least 8 months.   However, Jogs For Dogs offers another great service called “Playtime For Puppies”.  PFP is great way for busy people to have their new “kid” checked in on during the day.   PFP is the first step in an active life of fitness for your dog.   When your dog outgrows PFP he will be ready to go straight into Jogs For Dogs.

How old is too old?
Even elderly dogs need exercise.   For our older dogs our jogs often turn into brisk walks. But all the same it is a great way for them to stretch their legs and get some fresh air.   Maintaining a healthy body weight is one of the most important things your dog can do in fighting off many age related health problems.  Moderate exercise can actually offset the degeneration of joints caused by osteoarthritus.

Of course the mental health of an aging dog is just as important as the physical health.  Jogs For Dogs gives your dog a daily routine that keeps them sharp and active.
